Kakinada: Pithapuram TDP in-charge Verma has raised concerns over alleged attempts to sway the electoral outcome by distributing liquor. His remarks follow a significant seizure of liquor in the town, with suspicions of foul play to influence the electoral process, particularly targeting Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan.
Verma accused the YSRCP of resorting to underhanded tactics, including the distribution of money and liquor, to secure victory in Pithapuram. Vaikapa, the ruling party, faces allegations of orchestrating schemes to undermine Pawan’s candidacy.
Amidst preparations for the general elections, reports indicate a surge in alcohol circulation within the Pithapuram constituency of East Godavari district. SEB officers and police conducted joint raids in response to complaints of liquor hoarding by ruling party leaders.
During Friday night’s operation, authorities seized liquor bottles worth Rs 80 lakh from residences in Jaggayacheruvu, Salipet, YSR Garden, and Kumarapuram colonies. The incident highlights growing concerns over electoral integrity and fair practices in the region ahead of the impending elections.
