M K Stalin Unopposed As DMK President

M K Stalin was announced as the unopposed president of the DMK party. It is obvious that the vacant post due to the death of M. Karunanidhi was given to his son.

The DMK party is all set to welcome in the new president as he was the only one to file the nominations for the post on Sunday, said an official.

Stalin submitted his nomination papers to DMK’S organizing secretary R. S. Bharathi. Today at the General Council Meet in Chennai, Stalin and Duraimurugan were formally elected.

As Stalin was elected unanimously as party president, on the other hand, Duraimurugan will be the treasurer of the party. The party committee members urged Stalin to take over as party president and be the chief of the party.

Stalin taking his father’s place angered the oldest son M. K. Alagiri who has decided to conduct a rally in Chennai on the 5th of September.

M. Karunanidhi was 94 years old and died of organ failure. The doctors treating him stated despite maximum medical support they failed to resuscitate him. Thousands of Kalaigar’s supporters gathered around the hospital.
