Manoj Tiwari, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 30th of May, took a dig at Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal.
Mr. Tiwari said, “Unko aana bhi nahi chahiye. Jaise unhone loktantra mein hinsa karke khoon kharaba kiya…unke pass nazar kahan hai ki aisi sabha mein baith kar logon se nazar milayen. (She better not come. The way she has induced violence during the polls and compromised democracy, I doubt whether she has the courage to even look into the eyes of people who will be present at the event.)”
The comments made by Tiwari came a day after Mamata Banerjee declined the invitation to attend the oath taking ceremony of Narendra Modi.
Ms. Banerjee said, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) were behind the murder of approximately 54 BJP workers, which is baseless and false. She also added, the BJP is trying to give a political angle to the murders, which, in reality, have nothing to do with politics.
Ms. Banerjee further said, “I am sorry Narendra Modi ji, this has compelled me not to attend the ceremony.”
Dilip Ghosh, the President of the BJP in Kolkata, said, after the victory of the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, the Party is looking forward to the Assembly elections.
The criticism of the BJP and the TMC regarding Modi’s oath taking ceremony started after the BJP invited the families of the 54 BJP workers who died during the violence of the TMC.
Mr. Modi, after a discussion with Amit Shah, the President of the BJP, sent a special invitation to the families of the dead BJP workers.
Mr. Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister of India, on the 30th of May, at 7:00 P.M., at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi.
