Hyderabad: Minister Uttam Kumar has issued a strong directive to irrigation department officials in light of the ongoing heavy rains in Telangana. Emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance, the Minister has instructed that officials should continuously assess the situation and take necessary precautions. Engineers are required to remain at their posts and not take leave without prior approval.
The Minister emphasized the importance of monitoring reservoirs and ponds regularly. He directed engineers to thoroughly check the operation of gates and spillways to prevent any risk of overflow. Regular inspections of dams, embankments, and canals are mandatory, with a special focus on areas prone to flooding. Additionally, greater attention is required for railway-affected ponds.
In case of emergencies, Minister Uttam Kumar urged the irrigation department officials to respond promptly and coordinate with local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
