Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 20th of April, spoke about the Income Tax (IT) Raids and said, it is not the political strategy but the law and justice.

Mr. Modi addressed the media and said, “IT raids in election season revealed corruption in schemes meant for most vulnerable.”

Recently, many political leaders and parties were raided by the IT Department. Majority of the politicians represents parties who are anti Bharatiya Janata party (BJP.)

The leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) the Janata Dal (Secular) [JD (S),] the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Aam Admi Party (AAP) were raided.

Multiple raids on all the anti BJP parties raised a question against the law and justice. The party leaders alleged the Government of India for misusing the powers to win the Lok Sabha elections, whereas the ECI for being the puppet of the PM Modi led BJP.

The Indian National Congress also took a dig at Modi and spoke about the raids in several public rallies.

Mr. Modi in an interview defended the BJP and said, the Parties are misusing the raids and hiding the truth. He said the raids were conducted based on the information and proof against the respective parties.

With the ongoing Lok Sabha elections the Election Commission of India (ECI) also tightened the security in India and are acting immediately upon receiving any complaints against any political parties.

The Lok Sabha elections started from the 11th of April and will continue till the 19th of May.

The Lok Sabha elections are divided into 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and 19th of May.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the INC and the BJP.
