On Wednesday, almost 3 lakh people who were led by Yoga Guru, Ramdev turned up at GMDC ground on the International Yoga day. The reason behind their presence was to perform Asanas, which the Yoga guru claimed it to be a world record.

Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani, BJP President, Amit Shah, Deputy Chief Minister, Nitin Patel and several other political leaders, including IAS officers, IPS officers, High Court judges were present at the venue.

The third edition of the International Yoga day was held under the guidance of Ramdev, who made the participants to do various yogic postures in spite of the early morning drizzle at the ground.

Ramdev said that the event has made it to the Guinness World Records after the one and half hour long session. The officials of the Guinness World Record was also present at the event.

“Today is the most important day for me, as more than 3 lakh people performed yoga at one place to set a new world record. We have broken the previous world record which was set in the presence of our PM, by a huge margin,” Ramdev said to the reporters.

After the event, Amit Shah thanked Narendra Modi for making yoga popular across the globe.

“Though India was trying hard to make yoga popular across the globe since 2011, we got success after the United Nations accepted Modiji’s proposal in 2014 and declared June 12 as the World Yoga Day. Since then, the popularity of Yoga is increasing across the world rapidly,” Amit Shah said.

Apart from GMDC ground, yoga day was celebrated at all the district headquarters by the Gujarat government.

The previous record was made on June 21, 2015 in Delhi. Nearly 35,985 people performed yoga at Rajpath in the presence of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
