A 34 year old married stockbroker was arrested for luring his English speaking tutor into marriage and then usurping money from her. The English tutor is a divorcee, who fell in love with her student (married stockbroker,) believing that he was single.
“The accused and the woman got introduced to each other at the class and fell in love. He told her that he was single. One and half years ago, they got married in a temple,” said the police officer.
However, a few days after their marriage, she spotted pictures of his with another woman, on his phone. When the tutor confronted him, he told her the woman in the pictures was his sister who stayed in Dombivli. Later, the tutor came to know the pictures were of the accused’s first wife.
“The complainant, tutor, suspects that the man was taking money from her and giving it to his first wife. She has said that he would keep asking for money on the pretext that his mother was suffering from cancer and he needed money for her treatment,” said the police. “We have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust,” an officer said.
The accused would have been aware of the woman having received Rs. 1.65 crore alimony after the divorce from her first husband and hence, he may have decided to con her,” said the police.
The police said the tutor has alleged the accused had been forcing her to sleep with the other men and hence, they have slapped sections of assault. On Wednesday, the accused had approached the sessions court for anticipatory bail but his application was rejected.
“The accused has also been booked for forging document papers,” said a senior police officer.
