On Tuesday, the CRPF officials claimed to have killed 10 to 15 Maoists in a huge operation. The CRPF stormed the main area of the Maoist in the dense forest in Bastar’s Dantewada on Sunday. This attack came about after the mass killing of 25 jawans by Maoist on April 24th in Sukma.
A Senior Officer from Chhattisgarh informed the media, “Our forces, who went deep into the forests to carry out the operations, saw Maoists falling down after being hit by bullets. However, neither bodies nor weapons could be recovered during these operations.”
A team was formed with the CRPF, CoBRA, District Reserve Group and Special Task Force to carry out an operation in Bijapur’s Basakura.
Dantewada DIG, P. Sunderraj in an interview explained that the mission was coordinated by a joint command. The mission was also monitored closely from Raipur. The DIG also described the mission as a “very successful operation.”
A few days ago, reports came in that CoBRA commandos were dropped into the dense jungle of Bastar by a helicopter on Sunday. A few hours later news came in of a wounded Special Task Force officer who was taken to Raipur for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. This indicated a definite clash between the officials and the Maoists.
The DIG officer reported the entire attack that went down on Sunday morning. In the interview, he said two jawans were injured and flown to safety for treatment. He also added that there was continuous firing from both ends that went on all day. The officer explained “10-15 Maoists were possibly killed in both exchanges and many injured.”
However, there were no bodies or weapons recovered by the officials that raised doubts and questions. To this, the DIG reported that the troopers were evacuating casualties, the Maoists took it to their advantage and took the bodies away. But a search is still on in pursuit of the Maoists.
