A total of 4 policemen were killed by terrorists as an escort party in Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. The militants fired at the group of officers today and killed two on the spot. The other two policemen were rushed to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.
Javaid Ahmad and Muhammad Iqbal were identified among the victims. The officers were shocked when terrorists began mercilessly firing during an escort party at the DSP Headquarters in Shopian.
A manhunt for the militants was immediately launched after the shooting. The police officials stated the slain policemen were found without their weapons. Most of the militants attack to steal officers weapons to increase their terror stronghold.
The shooting occurred a few hours after two militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag district. Hizbul Mujahideen’s oldest operating militant Altaf Kachru was killed in this encounter by security forces. The second militant is yet to be identified.
