In the wee hours of Thursday, an encounter took place between security forces and terrorists. The gunfight took place at 3:30 A.M., in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Security forces were in search of terrorists that were suspected to be hiding in Natipora village of Sopore. The search party consisted of the Amry’s 21 Rashtriya Rifles that headed to the village 70 km from Srinagar.

One of the officials reported, “The terrorists who were holed up in a house, opened fire on the security forces who then retaliated.”

The senior police official said, “Two terrorists were killed in the operation, the identity of the terrorists is yet to be ascertained.”

After the encounter, the Army cordoned off the areas and a joint operation was carried out.

Yesterday in Sopore, grenades were hurled at the police by the terrorists. This injured four of the police personnel.

Jammu and Kashmir have been witnessing nonstop attacks from the militants that have been looting banks. There have been 13 different attacks of robbery, stealing nearly Rs. 92 lakhs. The militants have been mercilessly slaughtering the policeman and bank security guards in their robberies.

The attacks have multiplied ever since the killing of Burhan Wani last July, member of the notorious militant group Hizbul Mujahideen.
