Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue, Housing, and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has announced that the state government will launch the Bhu Bharti Act and new land portals in April to resolve all land-related issues.

Addressing the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, the minister criticized the previous government’s implementation of the Dharani portal and Revenue Act in 2020, claiming it was done without consultation, leading to several complications. He stated that the new law was made public before being enacted on January 4, 2024.

He also declared that Bhu Bharti would be a key issue in the next Assembly elections, calling on India to contest the Dharani Act as a referendum.

The minister highlighted key initiatives, including:

  • Mandatory land surveys for all agricultural and non-agricultural land registrations.
  • Restoration of 10,954 revenue village officials, abolished under the previous regime.
  • Pilot implementation of slot booking in 17 Hyderabad sub-registrar offices to complete registrations within 15 minutes.
  • Housing projects under the Indiramma House Scheme, with 4.5 lakh houses sanctioned.
  • Transparency in government advertisements, addressing past mismanagement.
