Today, a special CBI Court will announce its verdict in the third case of the multi crore Fodder Scam. The case is against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for fraudulent withdrawals from the Chaibasa Treasury in the 1990s.
A total of Rs. 33.67 crores were said to be withdrawn from Chaibasa District Treasury during Lalu’s tenure 1992 to 1993. The Court will also announce the verdict for 56 accused including Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra.
Lalu is at present serving time at the Birsa Munda Jail after being found guilty in two other Fodder Scam Cases. In December last year, the RJD Chief was announced guilty in the fodder scam involving fraudulent withdrawals from the Deoghar Treasury. The special CBI Court sentenced Lalu to three and a half years imprisonment in January.
In 2013, the former CM was found guilty of illegally withdrawing Rs. 37.7 crores and was sentenced to five years in prison. Apart from the Fodder Scam cases, Lalu is also facing charges for illegal withdrawal from the Dumka Treasury and the Doranda Treasury.
