Srinagar: On Saturday morning, two soldiers and four militants were killed in an ongoing encounter in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. Two other soldiers were also injured in the gun battle on Friday afternoon. The encounter that has been underway from the past 18 hours took place between the security forces and terrorists.
According to officials, after receiving information about a group of terrorists hiding in a house, a cordon and search operation was launched at Marseri village in Chowkibal area. With this, the militants attacked the searching officials and the security personnel opened fire.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Garib Das said, “Terrorists’ movement was reported from this area. Our security forces began search of the area. We came in contact with the terrorists, leading to exchange of fire. We have cordoning off the area.”
