In Patna, after the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) announced its Class XII results on Tuesday, two girls committed suicide. The third one made an attempt but, thankfully, was unsuccessful.

Khusbu Kumari, a 16 year old girl hanged herself from the ceiling at her maternal grandfather’s house in the village Palatkhar Jogia Talab under the Pirpainti police station jurisdiction, in the Bhagalpur district.

Kiran Kumari is a 17 year old girl of Kasaria village in the Buxar district. She jumped into a running train near the Raghunathpur railway station on Tuesday evening.

One of the friends of Khusbu said that she started crying after she got to know her result. The Pirpainti police station SHO Parshuram Singh said, “Her family members said that she continued crying for almost two hours after which she went into her room and locked it from inside before hanging herself with her stole.” Further, Parshuram Singh said that her family members were not at home when the girl committed suicide.

According to Buxar GRP SHO Ali Akbar Khan, a friend of Kiran told her that she failed in the examination but her father had told her that she had passed. Later, the girl had gone out of her residence and her body was found on the track. In fact, the girl had passed the examination in the third division.

“Kiran’s father said that he had never expected her to take such an extreme step as she was a timid girl,” the SHO said.

Another girl attempted suicide in Sheikhpura district but she was rescued by one of her family members.

Eight lakh students have failed out of 12.61 lakh students who appeared for the Class XII examination.
