Veteran South Indian actress-director Vijaya Nirmala passed away on the 27th of June at Continental Hospitals in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
Vijaya Nirmala, 75 years old, died during the early hours of the 27th of June due to a cardiac arrest.
V.K. Naresh, the son of Nirmala, took to Twitter and confirmed the news.

Born in Tamil Nadu, Vijaya Nirmala started her film career at the age of 6 and was a part of the Tamil movie Machcha Rekhai (1950.) Soon, she became one of the famous names in the South Indian film industry.
After becoming famous in Kollywood, Vijaya Nirmala entered Tollywood. Her debut movie in the Telugu film industry was Rangula Ratnam (1966.)
In 2002, Vijaya Nirmala entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the first woman director with approximately 44 movies.
Nirmala worked on more than 200 Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam movies. She was awarded the Raghupathi Venkaiah State Award in 2008.
Some of Ms. Nirmala’s famous films are Alluri Seetharama Raju, Meena, Poola Rangadu, Asadhyudu, Bangaru Gajulu, Mosagallaku Mosagadu, Thatha Manuvadu, Engaveettu Penn, Panama Paasama, En Annan, Gnanaoli, Uyira Maanama, Bhargavi Nilayam and Udhyogastha.
Vijaya Nirmala’s sudden demise came as a shock to all her fans and the celebrities of the South Indian film industry. Twitter is flooded with condolence messages for her family.

Nirmala is survived by her husband and famous Tollywood actor Krishna and son V.K. Naresh.
On the 27th of June, the body of Ms. Nirmala will be brought to her residence in Nanakramguda around 11:00 A.M., so people can pay their last respects.
The last rites will be performed on the 28th of June at Nanakramguda, Hyderabad.
