Tadepalli: The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) has sharply criticized the state government over the recent camera scandal at Gudlavalleru Engineering College. Labeling the incident as “heinous,” YSRCP has condemned the government’s handling of the situation, calling it a major failure.
In a press conference at the party central office on Friday, YSRCP Spokesperson P. Shiva Shankar condemned the placement of hidden cameras in the girls’ hostel washroom, describing it as a gross violation of privacy that has caused significant distress among students and their families. Shiva Shankar accused the coalition government of failing to protect the education system, which he claims has deteriorated since its inception.
He demanded immediate identification and severe punishment for those responsible. Shiva Shankar criticized the government for its inaction while over 300 students protested at Gudlavalleru Engineering College from Thursday night. He questioned why the issue was suppressed by the college management for a week despite student complaints and why the police were either not informed promptly or failed to act if they were.
Additionally, Shiva Shankar expressed concerns about the lack of adequate security in the girls’ hostel and noted that the primary suspect in the scandal had Jana Sena posters on his Instagram account. He highlighted the discrepancy between the government’s claims of an ongoing investigation and the police’s assertion that they have concluded the case without finding evidence of the scandal.
