The Demonetisation of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 that started on November 8 is still in effect and people have been facing a cash crunch as there is a shortage of new currency that is available to people. In such situation domestic airlines Jet Airways is offering its customers the facility of EMI for booking its flights.

The private airlines that has its headquarters in Mumbai, has decided to tie up with leading banks. This includes Axis Bank, HSBC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and few more. The release by the Airlines states the provision of EMI payment option at the time of booking.
Jayaraj Shanmugam, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways said, “India is currently witnessing a digital and financial revolution with young, digitally savvy consumers increasingly opting to use payment options such as EMIs and credit cards. We are confident our guests will take to this solution with gusto, allowing them to plan their expenses when they fly with us.”

The release said that the website and mobile App will offer attractive Equated Monthly Installment payment option at the time of booking for credit cards issued in India. The card holders of the above mentioned banks can avail options of Equated EMIs of 3, 6, 9, and 12 months respectively at the time of booking.

India has a total of 2.5 crores of credit cards issued. With increasing digital banking, many of these cardholders prefer online banking and mobile application usage. EMIs are available for most of the websites for shopping nowadays. Now with the introduction of EMI by Jet Airways, it will enable these card holders to book even their flight tickets easily.

The release also said that the banks that Jet Airways has collaborated with for this option, account for more than one third of credit cards issued in our country.
