The Trump effect increases staffing and AI

The President-elect Donald Trump in a recent video stated that he would keep a strict tab on all the H1-b visas that will be issued, and curb the visa program abuse. The Indian companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys and Wipro are already hiring new recruits from colleges.

This step of recruiting was taken after the video message by Trump on Thanksgiving Day, regarding his first 100 days action plan. Every year these three companies alone recruit 85000 to 90000 employees for short term contracts abroad and they return to the Country after the completion of the project. This has created a shortage of jobs in the U.S.A. Now with Trump’s message these companies have started on campus recruitments in the United States of America.

In the 2014-2015 term, 86,000 new H1-b workers have been recruited in these three companies alone. The U.S., as of 2016 issues that many numbers of H1-Bs overall. A tight regime can be expected in the visa program as Attorney General to be, Senator Jeff Sessions and President-elect Trump are long-time critics of the visa program. There are also speculations of complete shut down of the skilled worker’s visa as Indian engineers are an integral part of the IT industry all over the world. The U.S., depends on cheaper and easily available IT and Software solutions from India. Change in the visa program will only push the up the costs. The stricter program rules would only mean less number of engineers being sent to the United States and increasing campus recruitment here in India.

Also, there is an extensive shift in the intensive onsite projects. Indian IT firms are now turning to automation, cloud computing and artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms. This forces the Western clients to adopt virtual services throughout the IT firms for faster and better service. The AI platform now is at 5 to 6% of the companies revenues which previously was zero. The increase in the virtual economy means more virtual services than onshore clients.
