On Saturday, the Pakistani army violated ceasefire and started firing and used mortar bombs along the Line of Control (LoC,) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Two persons were killed in firing and three were injured in the attack.

This is the third ceasefire violation by Pakistan over the last month. The dead includes one woman. Lt. Col Manish Mehta, PRO Ministry of Defence (MoD,) of Jammu said the Indian army retaliated ”strongly and effectively.” He also said the firing was still underway when reports last came in.

Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, the Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri, speaking to the press said, “Two persons have been killed and three others injured in the firing and shelling by Pakistani Army along LoC in Nowshera belt.” He also added, “Pakistani Army initiated indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatic weapons, 82 mm and 120 mm mortars from 0715 hours along the Line of Control (LC) in Nowshera sector.”

Officials said that the Pakistani troops were targeting Bhawani, Jangarh and Laam belts. People have started migrating to safe places from five hamlets along the LoC.
