On Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP,) blamed the Demonetization move of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre for the fall in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and demanded a white paper on the note ban.
The senior AAP leader, Dilip Pandey said scrapping the currency notes is a huge negative contributor to the growth of GDP. Further, he asked the Central Government to apologize for cheating people in the name of Demonetization.
India’s GDP during the 2016-17 financial year grew by 7.1 percent which is lower than the 8 percent in 2015-16.
“Even after all the efforts and even after changing the calculation of WPI (Wholesale Price Indices) and the IIP (Index of Industrial Production,) they (Central Government) couldn’t present a good picture of the financial situation of the country, and it is further deteriorating,” Pandey said.
The leader said the Central Government is hiding the truth behind the Demonetization move. He further revealed the work assigned to print new notes was given to a blacklisted company whose name had appeared in the Panama Papers.
“Just as the truth about the economic development has come out now, the truth about the Demonetization will also come out one day,” he said.
“Now Arun Jaitley can no longer say it is due to the global economic fluctuations or the financial mismanagement under the UPA regime,” he added.
