25 killed, 100 injured in Saudi Arabia hospital fire

Riyadh: At least 25 people were killed and 100 others were injured on Thursday in a fire mishap at a hospital in Saudi Arabia. According to the civil defence agency, the massive fire broke out at the hospital’s intensive care, maternity and neonatal care wards in the early hours of the Thursday.

Maj. Yahya bin Abdullah al-Qahtani, Civil Defense spokesman of Saudi, said that the reason behind the fire accident is yet-to-be investigated and the fire mishap took place in the early hours. The spokesman also added that the fire broke out in intensive care, maternity and neonatal care wards of the hospital. According to the civil defence, the fire has been doused off and at least 20 firefighter brigades were rushed to the site to clear the flames. The investigation is underway.
