Pittsburgh: At least five of them were killed and several injured on Wednesday in a shooting near Pittsburg. Four women and one men were killed in a residential neighbourhood in Wilkinsburg which is 8 miles east of the city.
“I heard at least 20 shots,” a witness, Kayla Alexandra, told media, which reported that at least two gunmen were involved in the shooting. Other regional media said seven or eight people were shot. Police were not immediately available for comment. Dozens of shell casings littered the pavement of an alleyway at the scene, media reports said.
Emergency dispatchers confirmed to WPXI-TV that police and seven ambulances were called to Franklin Avenue in Wilkinsburg just after 11 p.m.
Wilkinsburg is a borough of about 16,000 people, with many lower and middle-income residents, demographic data showed.
