Paris: As many as eight people were killed in a fire accident on Wednesday in the north of Paris. According to police, the fire broke out in an apartment in the early hours of Wednesday. Atleast eight people including two children were killed in the mishap. Four others were wounded and were shifted to a hospital. The condition of survivors is said to be critical.
After receiving the information, nearly 100 fighters immediately rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The incident occurred in the 18th district at around 4:30 am (0230 GMT). It is heard that nearly 15 other buildings in the area had been affected by the flames.
The major fire accident is believed to be one of the deadliest fires in the French capital in the last decade. The exact cause for the mishap is yet-to-be known. The officials are investigating. Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet confirmed that the dead included two children.Further investigation is underway and more details are awaited.
