Army Officer Wins Miss USA Pageant

Newly crowned Miss USA , Deshauna Barber is an Army officer from the District of Columbia, who gave the strongest answer at the night when she was questioned about women in combat.

The 26-year-old said, “As a woman in the United States Army, I think … we are just as tough as men. As a commander of my unit, I’m powerful, I am dedicated, gender does not limit us in the United States.” New Miss USA Pageant, Army officer works as an IT analyst for the federal government.

Barber lives in Northeast D.C., according to her profile on the Miss Universe website. She graduated from Virginia State University with a degree in business management and works as an information technology analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce, the site says.

The second winner in the pageant is Miss Hawaii was asked, who she would vote for the presidential candidates, Democrat Hillary Clinton or Former pageant owner Donald Trump, a Republicant.

The question was framed with Clinton’s likely status of being the first woman nominated by a major political party for the White House. Hardin responded that gender doesn’t matter when deciding the next commander in chief. The 24-year-old college student from Honolulu simply said the new president should push for what’s right for the country.
