The United States of America President Donald Trump, appointed Krishna R. Urs, an Indian-American as the new US Ambassador to Peru.

The American diplomat has been in service since 1986. Urs is presently Charge d’ Affaires of the US Embassy in Madrid, Spain. He also served as the Deputy Chief of Mission in Spain. In his thirty years of State Department service, Urs gained experience in economic issues and developed extensive policy experience in the Andean region of South America.

A media release said Krishna also has served at seven different US embassies and in senior leadership positions in Washington. Urs is also well qualified with an MS from the University of Texas and a BS from Georgetown University.

He is fluent in several languages including Spanish, Hindi and Telugu. In the past, Urs served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Transportation Affairs and Chief US Government Aviation Negotiator at the Department of State from November 2010 until June 2014.

Krishna Urs has also served as Director of the Office of Aviation Negotiations in the Bureau of Economic, Energy and Business Affairs in the Department of State, Deputy Chief of Mission at the same embassy, Director of the Office of Economic Policy, Charge d’ Affaires, at the US Embassy in La Paz, Bolivia, and Summit Coordination in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the Department of State.
