Indian Woman Kidnapped In Kabul : Sources

Judith D’Souza, an Indian woman who was kidnapped in Kabul last month has been rescued.

Kabul: An Indian woman identified as Judith D’Souza working with an NGO was kidnapped by unkown gunmen near Qala Fattulah area in Kabul on Thursday night. The Indian woman was working for Aga Khan Foundation as a senior technical adviser.

The Indian Embassy is in touch with senior Afghan authorities and also with her family in Kolkata. All efforts are being made by Afghan authorities to secure her early release. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. All efforts are being made by the Afghan authorities to ensure her release, sources were quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.
The Indian Embassy had, earlier in May, issued a security alert to Indian nationals residing in Afghanistan or travelling there, about the volatile situation in the country.
