Iraq: Unites States Embassy of the Iraqi capital have been reported that several Americans were kidnapped in Baghdad. According to the security officials, three American contractors, out of whom two were Iraqi-American citizens abducted by gunmen from the Dora neighbourhood in Baghdad on Friday were taken away in a convoy.
The US officials have not specified the number of individuals who went missing, but said, several of them have been kidnapped.
“We are working with the full cooperation of the Iraqi authorities to locate and recover the individuals,” US State department spokesman John Kirby said in a statement on Sunday.
No group has claimed responsibility, though the Islamic State is known to carry out abductions in Iraq.
