United States claims, Islamic state group’s finance minister Abdul Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli, aka Haji Imam was killed in an operation in Syria this month. The US Defence Secretary Ash Carter announced in a press conference on Friday.
In addition to the death of Haji Imam, the Pentagon confirmed the killing of another top leader Omar al-Shishani in an earlier operation.
“He served as a finance minister and was also responsible for external affairs for the Islamic State. He was a well known terrorist and had also worked under Al Qaeda’s Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. The removal of this ISIS leader will hamper the group’s ability to operate in Syria and Iraq,” Ash Carter said.
“Striking leadership is necessary, but it’s far from sufficient,” Defense Secretary Ash Carter said at a news conference, adding that the U.S. is “systematically eliminating” ISIS’ cabinet.
