On the 6th of October, the Nobel Prize for Chemistry was announced to Mr. Benjamin List and Mr. David WC MacMillan.
On Wednesday, Mr. Goran Hansson, the Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, announced the Nobel Prize 2021 winners for Chemistry.
The two scientists Mr. Benjamin List and Mr. David W.C. MacMillan were awarded for their work in developing a new way for building molecules. The way of building molecules is known as ‘asymmetric organocatalysis. The new tool to build molecules or a third catalyst is going to benefit scientists to conduct pharmaceutical research. Before this third discovery, researchers believed to have only two types of catalysts, metals and enzymes.
The winners of the prestigious award would get a gold medal and 10 million Swedish kronor (over $1.14 million.) The two winners of the Nobel Prize 2021 for Chemistry would share the prize money.
With this, so far the Nobel Prize 2021 for Medicine, Physics and Chemistry have been announced. Now the Nobel Prizes 2021 in the fields of Literature, Peace and Economics are yet to be announced.
