Mohammad Miya, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, was seen assaulting a specially abled man, on Tuesday, in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh (UP.)

The man was criticising the BJP and said, he will only vote for Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party (SP.)

The man was heard shouting, “Vote denge Akhilesh ko (will vote for Akhilesh Yadav.)” Following the man’s comment, Mr. Miya lost his temper and said, “Go go, vote. Hut (get out.)”

The argument soon heated up and turned violent when Mohammad Miya started abusing the man and hit him with a stick. He tried to shove the stick into the man’s mouth.

The incident showing the BJP leader’s misbehaviour was recorded as a video, which went viral on social media platforms and drew criticism toward the BJP.

However, Mr. Miya denied all the allegations and said, “He (the man) was abusing Modi ji and Yogi ji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath), I tried to first explain things, he was drunk, it was a conspiracy to malign BJP, I was just trying to make him leave the place. I didn’t shove a stick in his mouth.”

Sudesh Kumar, a police officer of Sambhal district, today said, “The case was registered last night, we have sent our teams to arrest the culprit.”

A case was registered against Mohammad Miya and an investigation is underway.
