Hyderabad: A local court has sentenced Venkatasai Krishna, a priest, to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of Apsara, a case that shocked the city in 2023. The court also handed him an additional seven-year sentence for tampering with evidence.
According to the investigation, Venkatasai Krishna killed Apsara after she insisted on marriage. He lured her into a trap, took her to Shamshabad, and murdered her in cold blood. He then buried her body in a manhole near his residence, sealed it with soil and cement, and continued his routine to avoid suspicion.
How the Crime Unfolded
On June 3, 2023, Krishna made Apsara believe they were traveling to Coimbatore, even showing her flight tickets. He informed her mother that she was leaving for a personal trip and would be dropped off at Shamshabad. That night, they left Sarurnagar, had dinner at Rallaguda, and later visited a goshala in Sultaspalli.
At 3:50 AM, while Apsara was asleep in the car, Krishna suffocated her with a seat cover before repeatedly bludgeoning her head with a jaggery stone. He then left the body in the car for two days before disposing of it in a manhole near Maisamma temple in Sarurnagar. To cover up, he hired laborers to fill the manhole with soil and cement.
The Sarurnagar police cracked the case, presenting strong evidence in court, leading to Krishna’s conviction and sentencing.
