Hyderabad: A heated debate broke out in the Telangana Assembly after BRS MLA K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) made allegations about Congress leaders taking a 30% commission for contracts. His remarks sparked a strong reaction from the ruling Congress party, leading to a tense atmosphere in the House.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other Congress members vehemently objected, demanding that KTR either prove his allegations or issue an apology. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members also joined in the uproar, escalating the situation further.
As tempers flared, BRS members accused Congress of misleading the House and insisted that KTR’s remarks were based on widespread allegations. In response, the Assembly Speaker announced that KTR’s comments would be removed from the official records. However, this decision did not pacify the situation.
Following the Speaker’s ruling, BRS legislators staged a walkout, gathering at the Assembly entrance in protest. They raised slogans against the Congress government, calling it a “20, 30 percent government”, referring to alleged corruption in project approvals.
