Hyderabad: A heated debate erupted in the Telangana Assembly over the Bhu Bharati land reforms. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy strongly objected to the remarks made by BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, leading to an intense exchange between the ruling Congress and the opposition.

Palla Rajeshwar Reddy criticized the Congress government, alleging that Bhu Bharati was a cover-up for Bhu Harati and accused the government of opening another bureaucratic hurdle in the name of Jamabandi. He demanded clarity on why the government was implementing Jamabandi.

In response, Bhatti Vikramarka defended the land reforms, calling Dharani a flawed and unjust law that stripped landowners of their rights. He reiterated that Congress had promised to abolish Dharani and had now introduced Bhu Bharati to restore people’s land rights. “We have the power to abolish Dharani, and we are fulfilling our promise,” he declared.

Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy emphasized that Bhu Bharati would be a key issue in future elections. He accused BRS of misleading the public and vowed to ensure justice for VRA and VRO workers. He also assured that eligible beneficiaries would be granted Indiramma houses under the Congress government’s welfare initiatives.
