Amaravati: Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar has uncovered a significant scandal involving the distribution of ration goods to the poor. Sugar, sugarcane, and oil provided to Anganwadis and other recipients were found to be underweight during inspections in Mangalagiri. The investigation revealed that each packet weighed 50-100 grams less than specified.

As a result, the distribution of kandipapu, sugar, oil, and other packets across the state has been halted. A comprehensive report on the issue is expected within a week. This development emerged after a meeting at the Civil Supplies Commissionerate in Vijayawada, where officials presented their findings in a PowerPoint presentation.

The discovery raises questions about the integrity of the Civil Supplies Department, with the minister emphasizing the need for a thorough purge to prevent such issues. Further inspections are planned to determine the extent of the problem beyond Tenali and Mangalagiri.
