Amaravati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially selected senior leader Somu Veerraju as its MLC candidate under the MLA quota in Andhra Pradesh. He will file his nomination today, joining other candidates from the NDA alliance in the MLC elections.
With five vacant MLC seats, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has secured three, while one each has been allotted to allies Jana Sena and BJP. On Sunday, TDP announced its candidates – BT Naidu, Bidha Ravichandra Yadav, and Kavali Greeshma, with two representing Backward Classes (BCs) and one from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community. Nagababu has already filed his nomination as the Jana Sena candidate.
With today being the last date for filing nominations, TDP candidates and Somu Veerraju will submit their papers. Given the NDA alliance’s MLA strength, the ruling coalition is expected to secure all five MLC seats unopposed.
