Amaravathi: The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet has approved the filling of 16,347 teacher positions through the Mega District Selection Committee (DSC). The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, took place at the State Secretariat’s First Block on Monday.

The approved positions include 6,371 secondary grade teachers, 132 physical education teachers, 7,725 school assistants, 1,781 trained graduate teachers, 286 post-graduate teachers, and 52 principals. Minister for Housing, Information, and Public Relations, K Parthasarathi, noted that this exceeds the previous government’s notification of 6,100 posts, underscoring the current administration’s commitment to education.

The Chief Minister emphasized the regular annual conduct of DSC to ensure timely recruitment. Additionally, the Cabinet decided to hold the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) every six months to avoid disruptions in students’ education.

Teachers will receive training starting December 10 to ensure high-quality education. The Cabinet also decided to repeal the controversial Land Titling Act-2022, citing concerns about its impact on registration, revenue, and legal systems.

Furthermore, the Cabinet resolved to rename the social pension scheme as the NTR Bharosa Pension scheme, increasing monthly pensions for various groups. This change, benefiting 66 lakh pensioners, will take effect on July 1.
