Ongole: YSRCP leader Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy criticized former minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy for his “baseless allegations” regarding the SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) agreement. Speaking to the media on Sunday, Chevireddy accused Balineni of making misleading statements to please others, emphasizing that Balineni had indeed signed the SECI agreement papers.
Chevireddy clarified that the SECI proposal reached the cabinet after Balineni signed it, and reminded him that on September 15, 2021, the government received SECI’s letter. Following this, officials presented the details to the cabinet, which approved the proposal. A committee was then formed to evaluate the deal, and after a month, the expert committee submitted its report. The cabinet subsequently approved the agreement, with Balineni’s signature on the proposal.
Highlighting YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s efforts, Chevireddy stated that the power purchase rate was reduced from ₹4.50 per unit during Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure to ₹2.45 per unit, ensuring affordable power and higher state revenue.
Chevireddy cautioned Balineni against maligning the family that helped shape his political career, suggesting such behavior to gain favor is inappropriate. He affirmed that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would emerge unscathed from baseless accusations.
