Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of maintaining Hyderabad’s reputation for religious harmony and tranquility during a review meeting on festival celebrations held at his secretariat on Thursday evening.
Festival Coordination
In light of the upcoming Ganesh festival, CM Reddy instructed Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari to delegate responsibilities zone-wise to top officials. He suggested that immersions of Ganesh idols be conducted in various ponds across the city, not just at Hussain Sagar, to alleviate crowd congestion. Additionally, he directed the police to ensure smooth operations and prevent disruptions during Milad Un Nabi celebrations on September 16 and 17.
The Chief Minister also addressed a request from Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsava Samiti President G. Raghavar Reddy and members for free electricity for Ganesh mandapams. CM Reddy responded positively, advising mandapa management to apply and secure the necessary permissions.
The review meeting was attended by Ministers Sridhara Babu, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Seethakka, Government Advisors Kesha Rao, Shabbir Ali, CM Advisor Vem Narendra Reddy, MPs Anilkumar Yadav, Konda Visveshwar Reddy, MLC AVN Reddy, GHMC Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi, Chief Secretary Shantikumari, and DGP Jitender.
Milad Un Nabi Celebrations
The festival committee agreed to reschedule Milad Un Nabi celebrations to September 19, following CM Reddy’s request to avoid overlap with Ganesh immersion activities on September 17. The committee initially planned grand celebrations on September 16 but accommodated the change to ensure smooth proceedings. The CM also assured the committee that he would consider their request to organize special celebrations for the 1500th birthday of Prophet Mohammad next year.

In a separate event, CM Revanth Reddy congratulated the Telangana football team for winning the Junior Boys National Football Championship ‘Dr BC Roy Trophy 2024-25’. The team members were received at the Secretariat, where the CM praised their achievement.
