Vijayawada: As the scorching heat intensifies across states, CPI State Secretary K. Ramakrishna has called for urgent action to address the distribution of social pensions. Emphasizing the need for timely assistance to the elderly, Ramakrishna demands that measures be taken to ensure the seamless delivery of pensions directly to homes.
Highlighting the challenges faced by senior citizens, particularly due to the distribution process at secretariat offices in April, Ramakrishna points out various difficulties encountered and even tragic deaths resulting from delays and bureaucratic hurdles.
Ramakrishna stresses the importance of utilizing available funds efficiently, urging authorities to allocate resources from both secretariat budgets and revenue streams to facilitate direct home delivery of pensions starting from May 1st.
In a stern message to the state government, Ramakrishna emphasizes the need for immediate action, cautioning against excuses such as financial constraints. It’s imperative, he insists, that necessary steps be taken promptly to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable citizens.
