Amaravati: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was informed by Roads and Buildings department officials that during the five-year rule of the YSRCP, even basic road maintenance, such as filling potholes, was neglected, and contractors were left unpaid.

In a review meeting at the State Secretariat, officials revealed that allocated funds for road repairs were not utilized under the previous administration. Due to unpaid bills worth crores of rupees, contractors were unwilling to undertake road repair projects. Officials estimated that at least Rs 300 crore is needed immediately to address the extensive potholes throughout the state.

The Chief Minister emphasized the urgency of the situation, directing immediate action to fill potholes, and prioritize roads in dire need of repair. Naidu instructed the officials to call for tenders, and complete the road repairs on a war footing.

The meeting included Roads and Buildings Minister BC Janardhan Reddy, departmental officials, professors, and construction experts.
