The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is all set to issue an e chip based passports to the Indian citizens.
The MEA will issue the e passports to avoid fake passports and identities, which will be under control with the new features.
The applicants can apply at the Telangana Regional Passport Offices (RPOs) for the e passport, following which the passport will be given in 4 to 5 days.
E. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, a regional passport officer at a Telangana RPO, spoke about the high demand of passports in Hyderabad. He said, “Applicants in Hyderabad will soon be able to get e passports, which will help them in submitting the passport without fear of any tampering.”
According to sources, the e chip based passport will include all the information about the applicant and will also have the highest paper and printing quality. The new e passport will have all the features to avoid tampering with the passport with another image of the passport holder and the RPOs will get an alert message.
The MEA arranged for special printing machines for good quality passports at all the RPOs in some major cities, including Hyderabad.
The Passport Seva Kendras in Ameerpet, Tolichowki, Begumpet and all the post office Passport Seva Kendras will soon start accepting applications for e passports.
