Visakhapatnam: City witnessed a significant gathering of legal professionals on Sunday morning as advocates from across the region united to demand the establishment of a permanent bench in the city. The event, organized by the Bar Association, saw participation from lawyers representing Palakonda, Bobbili, Rajam, Tuni, Narsipatnam, Anakapalli, Gajapatinagaram, Elamanchili, and Vizianagaram. Senior advocates from Visakhapatnam, including Chinthapalli Rambabu, Gudipalli Subbarao, IM Ahmed, Raghavendra Rao, and Lakshmirambabu, also joined the cause.
Association President Bevara Satyanarayana highlighted that the legal community has been urging the government for several years to set up a bench in Visakhapatnam to address the growing needs of the region. State Bar Council Vice President S. Krishnamohan and member P. Narasinga Rao echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of decentralizing judicial services to ensure better access to justice for citizens in North Andhra.
The advocates argued that a permanent bench would not only reduce the burden on existing courts but also provide timely justice to people in remote areas. The event underscored the collective resolve of the legal fraternity to push for this long-pending demand, urging the government to take immediate action.
