Islamabad: Special court in Pakistan sentenced 10 years imprisonment for former prime minister and cricketer Imran Khan and his cabinet colleague Shah Ahmed Qureshi for revealing the secrets related to the finances of the nation.
Special court judge Abdul Hasnath Mohammed delivered the verdict. Imran Khan in March 2022 displayed a set of papers in a public meeting alleging conspiracy in dethroning him as prime minister of Pakistan. He said that he collected those documents from the Pakistan embassy in the USA.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered a case against Imran. He submitted to the court that he presented empty papers in the court to convince the public. Court rejected the arguments of Imran and sentenced 10 years in jail.
Imran is already in jail in the Toshakhana case and his party is facing a tough time ahead of general elections scheduled on February 8, 2024.
