Amaravati: Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on his 134th death anniversary. At his residence, Jagan offered floral tributes to Phule’s portrait and lauded his remarkable contributions to social reform, women’s education, and the fight for equality and empowerment.
Sharing his sentiments on X, Jagan wrote, “At a time when people questioned, ‘Why should women be educated?’ the great social reformer Jyotirao Phule established schools for women and imparted education to them. On the occasion of the death anniversary of this visionary who initiated reforms in education, we pay our heartfelt tributes.”
Prominent YSRCP leaders, including MLC Lella Appireddy, MLC R. Ramesh Yadav, former ministers Jogi Ramesh and Vidadala Rajini, and State Secretary Ankamreddy Narayanamurthy, also participated in the homage.
Separately, YSRCP leaders commemorated the day at the party’s central office in Tadepalli by paying floral tributes to Phule’s statue. Speaking at the event, MLC R. Ramesh Yadav praised Jagan’s governance for uplifting marginalized communities, citing initiatives like 17 cabinet berths for BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities, and the creation of 57 BC Corporations.
Jogi Ramesh likened YS Jagan to a modern-day Phule for his dedication to social justice and equity.
