Tadepalli: Ahead of International Women’s Day, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has criticized the coalition government, alleging that it has failed to ensure women’s safety and security. Party spokesperson Shyamala stated that under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, women empowerment was a priority, while the current government is failing to implement its promises.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Shyamala highlighted that 90% of the beneficiaries of YS Jagan’s Navaratnalu welfare schemes were women. She accused the ruling coalition of deceiving women by introducing conditional riders on schemes like Talliki Vandanam, Deepam free bus travel, and Stree Nidhi, which are either stalled or not reaching beneficiaries.
She also pointed out a rise in crimes against women and minors, blaming the government’s poor handling of law and order. She questioned Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s silence on women’s safety despite his earlier promises and criticized the Home Minister for failing to disclose action taken on reported crimes.
YS Jagan, she said, had introduced the Disha App for women’s safety, reserved 50% of local body seats for women, and ensured key cabinet positions for them. She accused Chandrababu Naidu of neglecting women’s self-help groups during his previous tenure, stating that YS Jagan had revived their support after assuming power.
