Congress leader S.M. Krishna has joined BJP on Wednesday, a day after this change, he said that the Congress party needs to rebuild itself. He said it needs to be changed from the roots to tip as they have no seriousness about leadership. Speaking to ANI, the minister said that he had formally joined BJP in presence of Amit Shah and the party leaders in New Delhi office.
Krishna was scheduled to join the party on March 15, but after the sudden demise of his sister, the joining date was postponed. Speaking to ANI, he said: “There is no connect between the Congress leadership and the rank and file of the party.” He also added, “All that I needed was respect and periodical consultations, I never demanded any position.” Krishna also expressed his elation about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s zero tolerance to corruption and supported the move of Demonetisation.
Krishna had served as CM of Karnataka under Congress and also External Affairs Minister and the 19th Governor of Maharastra. While BJP welcomed Krishna with open arms, the Congress party said that S.M. Krishna’s shift to BJP was not a substantial loss. The leader had resigned from the party on January 29 and stated that the party was in a ‘state of confusion’.
