Demonetisation a complete Failure: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi called the Demonetisation move a complete failure. He asked Modi to clarify the corruption allegations on him.

The Deomonetisation move ends on December 30, after which the old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes will not be valid even for depositing in the banks. Ahead of this, the oppositions had a joint press conference. In this meet, the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi slammed the decision of Demonetisation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called it a complete failure. He claimed that the move has failed miserably in reducing corruption and in stopping money laundering. He also maintained that it only made the lives of poor and middle class people tougher.

At the Press Conference, Rahul Gandhi said”Demonetisation has had no impact on corruption and black money. A new black market has emerged to convert black money into white.”

He has time and again in his rallies said that Demonetisation was an attack on the poor of the country. In regard to this, he said, “Demonetisation is an attack on the country’s poor and had only increased unemployment.” Rahul also added that “There is no cash with farmers, small traders, and laborers. December 30 is quite close and the situation remains the same. The objective of demonetisation has failed completely.”

Seeking a clarification on the allegation that Rahul made, he asked that Modi must give a clarification of all the corruption charges and allegations placed on him. The members of Trinamool Congress also demanded a clarification on the same. The stage was shared by TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Janata Dal-Secular leaders at this conference.

Rahul Gandhi said, “If a sincere effort is made by the government to eradicate corruption, not just Congress, but the entire Opposition will stand behind it.” The TMC said that with Demonetisation the country has gone back 20 years. Mamata in regard to this asked, “Modi Ji, where is the black money? All the money in circulation is now in banks, so where is this so-called black money?”

The opposition went ahead and called the move of Demonetisation a mega scam, biggest after the Independence of the country.
