The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials made another arrest in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam Case.
On the 10th of November, the ED officials arrested Mr. P. Sarath Chandra Reddy, the Director of Aurobindo Pharma, and Mr. Benoy Babu, a businessman from Andhra Pradesh running Pernod Ricard Firm. The duo were arrested in Delhi under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Case registered against them. It is to be noted, Mr. Sarath Chandra and Mr. Benoy Babu are among 15 people listed in the first information report (FIR) including Mr. Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, political leaders and businessmen.
According to sources, the arrest came 72 hours after the ED officials grilled Mr. Sarath Chandra Reddy in the liquor scam and money laundering case. The ED, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched an investigation into the irregularities in the Delhi Excise Police, implement for 2021-2022, after the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Ajay Saxena, ordered a probe. Mr. Vinai Kumar Saxena even suspended 11 excise officials allegedly in the scam.
The ED would produce Mr. P. Sarath Chandra before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Court later today, the 10th of November.
On the other hand, the investigation into the Delhi Liquor Scam case and money laundering case is underway. In regard to this, the ED conducted multiple raids and questioned several politicians and businessmen in Delhi and Telangana.
