Actor turned politician Mr. Mithun Chakraborty made a remark regarding the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs.)
According to sources, on the 27th of July, Wednesday, Mr. Mithun Chakraborty claimed that 38 MLAs of the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC are in touch with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.) Mr. Mithun Chakraborty said, “At this moment, 38 TMC MLAs are having very good relations with us. Out of them, 21 are directly in touch with me. When I was in Mumbai, I came across the news one fine morning that the Shiv Sena and the BJP had formed the government in Maharashtra. How do you know that same thing will not happen here in West Bengal.”
However, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday rubbished the claims of the former TMC leader and called him mentally ill. Mr. Santanu Sen, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the TMC said, “I heard that Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a hospital a few days back. I think he was mentally ill and not physically… The problem is that he does not know politics.” He further said, Mr. Mithun Chakraborty is “trying to fool the people by making false claims.”
Addressing the media, the TMC leader Mr. Santanu Sen said, “Such statements are an attempt to fool the masses. It has no relation with reality.”
However, any official statement regarding the matter from either of the party, the TMC, or the BJP is awaited.
