The Governor of Tamil Nadu C. Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday invited E. Palaniswami to be the next CM of Tamil Nadu. The four time MLA from Salem, Paliniswami was selected by the AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala. This decision was taken after the Supreme Court convicted Sasikala in the 21 year old case of disproportionate assets.
After the death of J. Jayalalithaa, O. Panneerselvam was taking care of the Chief Minister post in the State. The AIADMK entered into a tussle of power after Sasikala announced her name for the CM post and Panneerselvam revolted against this. Then Chinnamma surrendered to the Bengaluru Police on Wednesday, before doing this she re-inducted her relatives Dinakaran and Venkatesh into the party many years after J. Jayalalithaa expelled them. This move was seen as an attempt to hurt Pannerselvam after he was expelled from AIADMK.

Edapadi K. Palaniswamy will be sworn in as the CM at 4:30 P.M., on Thursday. The deputy speaker of Lok Sabha, Thambidurai described this decision as the win of dharmam and also Amma’s ideals. The Governor said that this will be a ground test and will be there for 15 days. In this time, Palaniswami has to build his supporters and prove his ability as CM.

When this news was declared, Pannerselvam’s supporters tried to sacrifice himself and was appointed to the hospital. This was an attempt to protest against Palaniswami and the incident took place in front of the caretaker Chief Minister’s residence.
